This week I failed big time at getting Freddy back on schedule. While jet lag may have passed, he came down with an unpleasant virus causing a sore throat and cough. We’ve all had it, so I know he couldn’t have been feeling great. We did have some good days, but I’m determined to get us back on track this coming week. We had our weekly meet up with our NCT mums and babies and friends over on Friday.
As Freddy gets older, he’s becoming much more restless at home and I’ve got to do a better job of getting out of the house. It’s so easy to stay stuck inside – rainy weather, cold weather, too much stuff to carry, don’t feel like driving, feeling under the weather. If I’m going to live in England for the rest of my life, I better get used to bad weather and babies and kids just have a lot of kit, so I need to get over it.
In terms of our meals, I more or less stuck to our plan. I didn’t make chicken tikka, because we just weren’t in the mood for it, and instead I made a lovely mushroom and walnut risotto that I came up with on my own. It’s so rewarding when I can see that I’m developing some cookery skills when I can whip up something delicious without a recipe. We also bought a ready-made meal from M&S (Jambalaya) one night, because I was too tired to cook and it was so, so good. I was disappointed with the Pastrami Saladwich. It seemed like a hearty salad, but really felt more like a small side you might have at a BBQ, so we were quite hungry that night!
Freddy’s food didn’t go to plan because he was unwell and sometimes he just wanted to sit on my hip and nibble at some parsnip or broccoli. Oh well.
